Fabric & Materials/Our Quality
When you’re off having rad adventures in challenging places, your New Zealand adventure wear has to be extremely capable. The quality of our mountain biking apparel is so high that it outlasted many of our bike parts during a 12-month testing phase. We use breakthrough fabrics that perform. We know because we wear them ourselves. Our New Zealand adventure wear clothing is designed to (and does) work in the heat and cold, spring, summer, winter and autumn as well as in the dirt, mud, crud, grime, grass, forest floor pickings, twigs, sheep poo, remains of small animals...
The following fabrics are used in the construction of our New Zealand adventure wear and mountain biking apparel:
Coolmax
Coolmax fabrics are extremely fast drying and stay soft and non-chafing after many washes (and we’ve thrashed them in the washer). The Coolmax outer manages your moisture levels to help you regulate your body temperature. Coolmax reduces the energy required to cool the body core, increasing your performance and endurance.
Pertex
This is an English fabric which was 10 years in design. It’s so specialised it can be worn in sub zero temperatures as well as in summer heat. Pertex Equilibrium lifts moisture away from the skin, keeping you dry, while the texture on the inside holds fabric away from the skin, creating a ‘microclimate’. It’s windproof and water repellent. These qualities plus its high tensile strength makes this one of the best fabrics for New Zealand adventure wear in the world.
Nylon/Tactel and Lycra/Tactel
Light but strong, these combos provide freedom of movement while still protecting you from the elements.
Merino
100% natural, this is one of the world’s finest and rarest natural wools. Merino can control the level of moisture within each fibre to keep you warm in cold temperatures and cool in hot ones. Merino’s superfine fibres absorb and disguise body odour allowing garments to be worn continually for days - perfect for New Zealand adventure wear and the odd lazy bachelor.
