Fabric & Materials/Our Quality

We use breakthrough fabrics that perform. We know because we wear them ourselves. Our mountain bike clothing is designed to (and does) work in the heat and cold, spring, summer, winter and autumn as well as in the dirt, mud, crud, grime, grass, forest floor pickings, twigs, sheep poo, remains of small animals...

The following fabrics are used in the construction of our New Zealand adventure wear and mountain biking apparel:

KRANK X Light

KRANK X Light is a highly breathable, fast drying wick able fabric with built in antibacterial properties. This fabric is amazing in the heat of summer and still very comfortable to wear even when it is 40 degrees. In fact a top made from KRANK X almost feels like you have nothing on at all.

KRANK X Ultra

KRANK X Ultra is designed and used for those spring and autumn type weathers days where it’s cold but not really cold. This fabric is used in the ladies Boost and the guys Slammer. These tops can be worn all winter by layering underneath with merino and a shell jacket over the top.

KRANK X Stormpro

KRANK Storm Pro is totally windproof and 95% waterproof. The Storm Pro is used in the ladies Blast and the guys T-Bones. We have also used the fabric on the shins and knees of our long winter riding pants to keep your shins and knees warm. The Fleece tops can be worn in heavy rain and will turn the water for up to 1-2 hours depending on how heavy the down pour is.

Chamois

We have sourced the best chamois available from Verona, Italy and have to say we have found no better chamois for comfort, quality and true value for money.

These chamois give you the results on those long races and adventure trail rides. Because the chamois works on pressure points in the buttocks bones they eliminate numb toes and numb bottoms. Just what the Doctor ordered.

Pertex

This is an English fabric which was 10 years in design. It’s so specialized it can be worn in sub zero temperatures as well as in summer heat. Pertex Equilibrium lifts moisture away from the skin, keeping you dry, while the texture on the inside holds fabric away from the skin, creating a ‘microclimate’. Its windproof and water repellent. These qualities plus its high tensile strength makes this one of the best fabrics for New Zealand mountain biking in the world.

Nylon/Tactel and Lycra/Tactel

Tactel

Light but strong, these combos provide freedom of movement while still protecting you from the elements.

Merino

Merino

100% natural, this is one of the world’s finest and rarest natural wools. Merino can control the level of moisture within each fibre to keep you warm in cold temperatures and cool in hot ones. Merino’s superfine fibres absorb and disguise body odour allowing garments to be worn continually for days - perfect for New Zealand adventure wear and the odd lazy bachelor.
